Spring is here indeed for my Skerry's first sail. Unfortunately, the wind is really weak. It's not so bad to take easy for a first trial... |
The light narrow hull moves on the smallest breath of wind, a real pleasure. I am a bit disoriented by the peculiar steering system. But, even in those conditions, the Skerry turns on its length, pivoting on its daggerboard. | In the absence of breeze, I try rowing. Conditions are ideal: flat water and no wind. I use 2.40 m oars, but they could be a bit longer.

| Checking that there are no stones in my path. I'll have to think about a way to cap the daggerboard case, because water is gurgling through as soon as I row hard enough! | End of the first navigation. The Skerry took to the sand quietly on its bottom. The camber of the bottom is clearly visible here: neither the skeg nor the forefoot touch the sand. |
Back on the trailer. The hull weighs in at 48 kg, that is 1 kg over the theoretic weight of 45 kg, and an addition of 2 kg of polystyrene foam.
