Description: Arwen is available ready to row we don't make kits for this model. Arwen is built with high quality marine plywood in 6 mm for the planking, and 12 mm for the transom and all other structural parts. All masive wood is sapele or similar tropical wood, except the thwarts which are pine. Before finishing, all wood parts receive 3 coats of epoxy, and the bottom (sole and galboards) is fiberglassed in and out. Furthermore, anti-skid is apllied inside the top epoxy coating. UV-protection is achieved through 6 coats of polyurethane varnish. Five individual stripes of stainless steel under the skegs and keels protect the bottom. A hemp-imitating polypropylene rope (lightweight and UV-proof) is seized under the rubrail to offer protection from docks and fellow boats and dinghies.

Arwen is shipped with a pair of brass oarlocks (2 sets of oarlock sockets aes installed on the boat) and a pair of 6' varnished pine oars.

A sailing version is availible on request at extra cots. She is equipped, in addition to the rowing version, with a daggerboard case, a mast step and partners, sheet cleats, rudder and daggerboard, and complete rig : mast, yard and 3.20 sqm lugger sail. All wooden parts receive an epoxy/varnish finish. The sail (cream colored Dacron) is established on the yard and all running rigging is provided (traditional hemp-looking polypropylene.) The pine floors which you can see on the right picture are no more standard equipment but can be installed at extra cost.

The building technique with plywood and epoxy lends itself perfectly to personnalisation of each unit: for instance, you can see on some pictures Arwen equipped with a sculling hole on her transom, whereas others show her with an outboard engine reinforcement: tell us how you would like your boat to be equipped!
